Where to get free Thanksgiving meals in SWFL
Hearts & Homes for Veterans, 2230 Alicia St., is offering a full Thanksgiving dinner for veterans and their families. You must reserve a dinner and pick it up on Monday, Nov. 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (239) 674-1719. They also have free Christmas trees and decorations, as well as gift wrap, etc., for veterans to take home.
Wesley Community Food Pantry, 4141 DeLeon St., will distribute free Thanksgiving meal kits in addition to a three-day supply of food at its next distribution date on Friday, Nov. 20. The Thanksgiving meal kits are the result of a partnership between Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and Freedom Church. Individuals facing food insecurity in Southwest Florida can register to receive a meal kit and a three-day supply of food at wesleymemumc.com/food-pantry or by calling 239-936-2200. There is a limit of 75 families.
First Baptist Church of Naples, 3000 Orange Blossom Dr., will host the St. Matthew’s House and Capital Wealth Advisors annual Turkey Drop on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Holiday meal boxes that include a turkey and sides will be available for pick-up for over 4,000 families. The Harry Chapin Food Bank is distributing gift cards this year rather than meals to help families with Thanksgiving. The gift cards are being distributed through the organization’s “Partner Agency Program,” which is a network of 150 partner organizations in the areas the food bank serves.
