Fort Myers Police just opened another substation to provide more safety beyond downtown.  It's on Ford Street, off of Winkler Ave and Colonial Blvd, inside the Children's Network of Southwest Florida building.  The goa is to offer more patrols and other police services in the city beyond the downtown area of Fort Myers.

Fort Myers Police Chief Derrick Diggs and Nadereh Salim cut the ribbon together Tuesday afternoon.  Two officers will work in the office.

"We're taking our officers and putting them closer to the community and making it easier for our citizens to reach our officers." he said.
