Services

Specialty Providers are organizations specializing in an array of services that are provided to the children and families in the child welfare system of District 8, Florida.

Specialty Provider Definitions: 

Drug Screening:

Drug and /or alcohol screening test(s) performed on clients referred by the Children’s Network of Southwest Florida’s Child Welfare Case Managers in District 8.

High Risk Newborn:

Parenting education services are  provided to high risk families expecting newborns or parenting infants.

Independent Living:

This program provides education, training and services necessary to obtain employment, preparation for entering post-secondary training and education institutions and personal and emotional support for youth aging out of the foster care system. In addition, aftercare and transitional support services is provided to young adults 18 to 23 formerly in foster care.

Medical Case Management:

Medical Case Management is intended to facilitate the development and maintenance of a compilation of health care information for children in the child welfare system. 

Parenting Education:

This service provides parenting education to prevent the occurrence or recurrence of child abuse or neglect. Services are provided in either a group or individual in home setting. 

Family Centered Services:

Family Support Services and Emergency Services are in-home family services delivered by a team of professionals for families who volunteer to accept these services and whose children are at imminent risk of removal from the home due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Teen Outreach Prevention Program:

This is a pregnancy and truancy prevention program designed for teens.  This program is designed to reduce at risk behaviors and increased self esteem in an after school group setting. 

Nurturing Fathers Prevention Program:

This program provides parenting education in a group setting, designed specifically for fathers.

 Recruitment:

The provider is responsible for recruiting foster homes, providing MAPP training for initial licensing, conducting initial licensing tasks, re-licensing and providing support services to foster parents.

Replacement Facility:

This is a residential program for Teens from 13-17 with Challenging Behaviors.  Short term residential care is provided to teens.  Behavioral health services are designed to help each child learn the skills and behaviors necessary to facilitate future successful and more permanent placement.

Family Resource Center:

The Family Resource Centers provide early intervention/prevention outreach activities, make referrals, and provide services that meet the needs of families who use the center and the community that surrounds it. Services may include parent skill training, drop-in centers, home visiting, support services, job training, after school homework support, mental health or family counseling, literacy, respite services, information and referral.

Emergency Shelter:

Emergency Shelter Care Program Services ensure the safety and well-being of children while providing temporary twenty-four hour a day room, board, care and supervision. This includes children pending court action on a dependency petition until the Children's Network of Southwest Florida's representative places the child in an alternative placement.

 Therapeutic Foster Care:

Therapeutic wrap around services are provided to children in specially trained foster homes. 

 Visitation:

Supervised visitation services are provided by individuals that are trained to observe, monitor and intervene as deemed necessary between the children and their non-custodial parents/families.
